All About Taylor Swift's Parents, Scott and Andrea Swift

How Taylor Swift’s doting parents are closely involved in megastar’s Eras tour and supported her rise to global fame… after her father Scott handed out VIP wristbands at Melbourne show

Taylor Swift‘s doting parents are very closely involved with her global Eras tour and have long supported her meteoric rise to fame.

The global megastar, 34, is currently in Australia for her highly-awaited tour, and has already performed at three sell-out Melbourne shows, ahead of her gigs in Sydney.

On the first night of her tour Down Under, her father Scott was seen handing out VIP wristbands to lucky fans as he accompanied her to Australia for the huge trip.

But his involvement doesn’t stop there as Scott and his wife Andrea have long been closely involved with Taylor’s tours, and helped her rise to global superstar status.

Here, Daily Mail Australia takes a look at Taylor’s parents’ tour duties and how they have helped her achieve her dreams.

Marketing manager Andrea and stockbroker Scott tied the knot back in 1988 before welcoming their daughter Taylor the following year in 1989.

They went on to welcome Taylor’s brother Austin in 1992 and the family lived in Wyomissing in Pennsylvania at a Christmas tree farm – which inspired her 2019 smash hit by the same name.

Her doting parents became aware of her passion for music from a very young age and the family relocated to Nashville when Taylor was 14 years old to help her pursue her dreams of becoming a singer.

Andrea previously told Entertainment Weekly of the move: ‘I never wanted to make that move about her ‘making it’.

‘Because what a horrible thing if it hadn’t happened, for her to carry that kind of guilt or pressure around.

‘We’ve always told her that this is not about putting food on our table or making our dreams come true,’ she added.

However, Taylor went on to land a record deal with Sony in 2004 when she was just 14 years old, becoming the youngest signing in the label’s history, and then signed with Big Machine Records the following year.

She told Great American Country Network in 2008: ‘My mom and I have always been really close. She’s always been the friend that was always there.

‘There were times when, in middle school and junior high, I didn’t have a lot of friends. But my mom was always my friend. Always.’

In 2010, Taylor won the Album Of The Year Grammy for Fearless and dedicated the win to her parents, saying: ‘This is for all those times that [my dad] said I could do whatever I wanted in life. And my mum, you’re my best friend.’

As well as helping to guide her into music, Taylor’s parents have gone on to become a key part in her marketing strategy and play a huge role in her massive global tours.

In 2009, Taylor told how her father Scott is a ‘social butterfly’ who ‘loves being on tour’ as she proved how close knit the family are.

Andrea and Scott – who reportedly quietly split in 2011 – have been known to hand out Taylor Swift branded guitar picks and bracelets at their daughter’s concerts.

Her parents have attended many of her Eras tour shows so far, and in April 2023, Taylor gave her parents a shoutout while performing in Houston, where they got married.

She said: ‘I love you, Houston! You treat us like Houston is my mum’s hometown, which it is. You treat us like this is where my parents got married, which it is.’

In July 2023, Swiftie and TikTok user Dom uploaded a video of himself fawning over Andrea ahead of an Eras Tour concert.

In the video, which amassed over 170k likes on the social media platform, Andrea recognises the super-fan and his mother and agrees to hand Taylor his letter.

One fan gushed: ‘You can really see why Taylor is the person she is when you see how nice her mom is. She raised Tay well.’

Another added: ‘Taylor got it from her mama, the kindest human beings!’

According to fan speculation, Andrea is also often tasked with finding the lucky fan who is handed Taylor’s iconic ’22’ bowler hat.

In Eras tour tradition, Taylor brings a fan up to the stage and trades them a friendship bracelet for her famous black bowler – with youngster Milana Bruno, nine, becoming the first Swiftie to get the hat on the Australia tour.

There has been much speculation about how the lucky fans are chosen and, though it hasn’t been confirmed, many fans believe that Taylor’s mother Andrea often keeps an eye out in the crowds before the shows.

Taylor’s father Scott also doesn’t shy away from getting involved in the tour antics and often gives out guitar picks in the crowds whilst watching his daughter perform.

After his steadfast support, Taylor sweetly made him a DIY all-access pass at the beginning of the Eras tour back in March 2023.

She made a makeshift lanyard with ‘Dad of Headliner’ written across it in an adorable gesture as she said: ‘Made my Dad’s tour credential. We are a small family business.’

Scott has now accompanied Taylor Down Under for her Australian run of shows, and has been making lucky fans’ dreams come true at her shows.

On the first night of her Australia tour at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, kind-hearted Scott treated some lucky fans to $2,000 VIP wristbands, leaving them overwhelmed.

Eager fans had arrived hours ahead of the concert in a bid to avoid the queues, and it paid off when Scott surprised some by upgrading their tickets to VIP passes.

The heartwarming act of kindness was shared on Instagram by 3AW presenter Jacqui Felgate, who posted a screenshot of a message from an unidentified person detailing the exchange.

The message explained how a mother and daughter had secured last-minute restricted view seats, but were handed VIP wristbands worth $2,000 by Taylor’s father after arriving at the MCG.

Taylor’s doting father Scott was said to have taken to the crowds to hand out the much-sought-after wristbands, with fans gushing over his incredible kindness.

The message detailed: ‘A good news story out of the MCG. My friend and her daughter had the cheap restricted seats from yesterday’s release and rocked up as soon as the gates opened.

‘Sat down and Taylor Swift’s dad went around and handed them wristbands and entry into the VIP section — apparently about $2000 in total value.

‘Seriously lucky and how generous and kind is Papa Swift!!!

‘I asked if I could at least get her cheap seats since she got upgraded because I’ve almost sold my soul to get tix,’ the person added.

Fans were quick to take to the comments section to share their disbelief over the extraordinary tale, which comes after Swifties were left desperately trying to get their hands on last-minute tickets in recent days.

They gushed: ‘Proud parents doing it right’; ‘Papa Swift is the best’; ‘How good are they. Taylor & her parents appreciate the fans;’

‘Wow, wow, wow – just fabulous’; ‘This is the best feel good story’; ‘He seems like the best guy, imagine being able to do this for people!!’
